Alder Desk Mat

The object

One piece of 3.5mm vegetable-tanned hide, skived at the corners so it lies flat from the first day. The grain is left undyed; it darkens where your forearms rest and stays pale at the edges.

Burnished in four passes with beeswax, then left to settle for a week before it is packed. Roughly 90cm × 45cm, and it weighs about 900g — heavy enough to stay put.
